Special Issue Introduction
Transportation system is one of the most complex physical dynamic systems, which can be substantive by sets of differential and algebraic equations. Their complexity not only emanates from the large number of equations describing the system’s dynamic behavior, but also from unpredictable factors originating from the complex interaction between humans, vehicles, and the physical infrastructure. This special issue focuses on the design, modeling, and control of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The modeling and control of nonlinear dynamic systems is an active research field, and we welcome the latest developments in design, modeling, and control as applied to transportation systems in this special issue. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
● Modeling of nonlinear dynamic transportation systems;
● Intelligent vehicles;
● Advanced traffic management;
● Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) based ITS;
● Machine learning: reinforcement learning, multiagent, etc. for ITS;
● ITS-based energy management;
● V2V, V2I, V2P, V2M, V2D, V2G, V2X, etc.;
● ITS cybersecurity;
● P2P Networks for Electric Vehicles;
● Electric vehicles effects on the grid resiliency and reliability
