Special Issue Introduction
Transportation infrastructure plays a vital role in people’s daily life. However, the adverse environment, aging materials, and increased traffic, especially during peak maintenance periods, inevitably result in reduced bearing capacity and durability of transportation infrastructure. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the operation efficiency and safety protection ability of transportation infrastructure. Recently, a new generation of intelligent traffic management systems, intelligent detection and monitoring technologies, and advanced operation and maintenance technologies have been proposed. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things have been developed rapidly. All these advances will make the automatic detection, accurate monitoring, reliability assessment, efficient management, and scientific decision-making of transportation infrastructure a reality. In this context, this Special Issue focuses on promoting the development of intelligent technologies for the maintenance of transportation infrastructure. The key motivation behind this issue is to provide an opportunity for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to publish their latest theoretical and technological achievements with innovative ideas, and new approaches to intelligent maintenance for transportation infrastructure, such as intelligent detection technology and equipment, monitoring and evaluation methods, and operation and maintenance strategy of transportation infrastructure. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
● Development and application of intelligent sensing device;
● Intelligent detection technology and equipment;
● Multi-source heterogeneous sensing data mining;
● Intelligent monitoring and evaluation methods;
● Multi-disaster response and failure mechanism;
● Intelligent disaster prevention and mitigation technology;
● Intelligent operation and maintenance strategy.
